Best GEO tools for Shopify brands (2026): Profound vs Peec vs Scrunch vs Otterly
Written from hands-on work in: Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), AI search visibility tracking, AI referral attribution in Shopify and GA4, Structured data and llms.txt.
Short answer
For most Shopify brands: Otterly.AI ($29 a month, 4 engines) to start, Peec AI ($95, 50 prompts) or Otterly Standard ($189, 100 prompts) once you track a real prompt set, Scrunch ($250) if you want site audits and bot traffic in the same tool, and Profound (custom) for enterprise teams tracking ChatGPT Shopping. Already on Semrush or Ahrefs? Their AI add-ons start at $99 and $199.
Key takeaways
- Prices checked on each vendor's own pricing page on October 16, 2026: Otterly.AI from $29, Peec AI from $95, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit $99, Ahrefs Brand Radar from $199, Scrunch from $250, Profound free trial then custom enterprise pricing.
- Compare on cost per tracked prompt, not plan price. Listed plans run from about $1.22 to $3.96 per prompt a month, and the engines covered differ by plan.
- Shopify brands need four things from a GEO tool: the engines your buyers use, cited source URLs, competitor share of voice and enough prompts for your product questions, not only your brand name.
- Every tool measures. None of them fixes. Google says no third-party tool has access to its internal ranking or AI systems, so treat every score as a sample.
- Demand is real: US Google searches for these tools ran about 6,600 a month for Profound, 2,900 for Peec, 1,900 for Scrunch and 880 for Otterly in our October 2026 pull.
- At Succession Media we run prompt tracking, cited-source maps and verified bot logs for clients ourselves, so the tool question becomes ours, and the fixes ship.
Which GEO tool is best for your Shopify brand?
We are an agency, not a tool vendor, and we have no affiliate deal with any tool on this page. Picks are based on each vendor's published plans as of October 16, 2026.

- Best value for a real prompt set: Peec AI Starter, $95 a month for 50 prompts on 3 models of your choice, with unlimited users.
- Best for 100+ prompts on one brand: Otterly.AI Standard, $189 a month for 100 prompts, with API access and agent analytics.
- Best all-in-one for monitoring plus site audits: Scrunch Core, $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, 5 site audits and AI bot traffic.

How do Profound, Peec, Scrunch and Otterly compare?
Monthly billing, entry plan, as listed on each vendor's pricing page on October 16, 2026. Annual plans are cheaper where offered, and vendors change plans often, so confirm before you buy.
| Tool | Entry price | Prompts at entry | AI engines at entry | Trial | Stands out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | $29 a month (Lite) | 15 | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot; Claude, AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons | Free trial | Lowest entry price, citation source tracking on every plan |
| Peec AI | $95 a month (Starter) | 50 | Choose 3 models; up to 13 on Enterprise | Not listed | Unlimited users on every plan, daily tracking |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 a month | 25 | Prompt tracking on Google AI Mode and ChatGPT | No free trial | Sits inside Semrush, adds AI checks to Site Audit |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | From $199 a month | Custom prompt packages from $50 a month (2,500 checks) | Depends on package | Not listed | Research brands across 481 million+ prompts in Ahrefs' database |
| Scrunch | $250 a month (Core) | 125 | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot; 9 on Enterprise | 7-day free trial | Site audits, page optimizations and AI bot traffic in one tool |
| Profound | Custom (Enterprise) | 50 on the free trial, custom after | Trial: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews; up to 9 engines on Enterprise | Free, 7 days | ChatGPT Shopping tracking and agent analytics on Enterprise |
What does each GEO tool cost per tracked prompt?
Plan price hides the real number. Divide by prompts tracked and the ladder looks very different. Engines per plan still differ, so compare like for like.
| Plan | Monthly price | Prompts | Cost per prompt a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI Lite | $29 | 15 | $1.93 |
| Otterly.AI Standard | $189 | 100 | $1.89 |
| Otterly.AI Premium | $489 | 400 | $1.22 |
| Peec AI Starter | $95 | 50 | $1.90 |
| Peec AI Pro | $245 | 150 | $1.63 |
| Peec AI Advanced | $495 | 350 | $1.41 |
| Scrunch Core | $250 | 125 | $2.00 |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 | 25 | $3.96 |
Two read-outs. First, per prompt, Otterly and Peec sit close together, so pick on engines and workflow, not price. Second, the Semrush toolkit costs the most per prompt but folds AI checks into a Site Audit you may already run, which is worth it only if your team lives in Semrush.
What should a Shopify brand look for in a GEO tool?
Most GEO tools were built for SaaS and agencies. A product brand needs a different setup, and four features decide whether the data is useful:
- The engines your buyers use. At minimum ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Add Gemini and AI Mode if Google is your main channel.
- Cited source URLs. The answer that names a rival cites the pages that convinced the engine. Without the URLs you know you are losing but not where to win.
- Competitor share of voice. Track your top three rivals on the same prompts, or a rising score means nothing.
- Enough prompts for product questions. Brand-name prompts are the easy part. The money is in category, problem and comparison prompts: best magnesium for sleep, why am I bloated, your brand vs a rival. Budget 50 to 100 prompts for one hero product line.
Two Shopify-specific checks. If ChatGPT Shopping cards matter to you, only Profound lists ChatGPT Shopping tracking, and only on its enterprise plan. And for AI bot traffic, check how the tool reads it on a Shopify-hosted store: Profound's listed agent analytics integrations are CDNs and hosts such as Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly and Vercel, and Shopify is not on that list.
What can a GEO tool not do for you?
A GEO tool is a thermometer. It tells you the fever is there, not how to break it. Here is what stays on your plate after you buy one:
- Fix the pages. Rewriting product pages so the facts AI needs are in plain text, shipping structured data, and fixing rendering and crawler access.
- Win the cited sources. Getting into the roundups, publisher pieces, review sites and Reddit threads the engines cite for your category.
- Tie it to revenue. Splitting organic AI referrals from paid ChatGPT ads in GA4 and Shopify, and reporting AI-referred orders next to ad numbers.
- Read the noise. AI answers change between runs. A one-week dip on 15 prompts is weather, not climate.
Do you need a GEO tool, an agency, or both?
A tool alone works if someone on your team owns the fixes every week: content, product data, outreach and tracking. If nobody does, the dashboard turns into a monthly screenshot of rivals beating you.
| Your situation | Best setup | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Under about $50K a month, founder-led, one hero product | A $29 to $95 tool plus the 60-minute DIY audit | Spend goes into fixing your top product pages, not reporting |
| $20K+ a month, in-house marketer with time to own it | A $95 to $250 tool, 50 to 125 prompts | Your team can act on cited sources and page fixes weekly |
| $20K+ a month on Meta ads, nobody owns AI search | An agency that tracks and ships fixes | Visibility without someone fixing pages and sources does not move |
| Enterprise catalog, many markets | Enterprise tool plus specialist team | Prompt volume and markets need custom tracking |
Before you pick either, run the GEO audit checklist once. It tells you which of the nine gaps you have, and therefore whether you need a thermometer or a doctor. For agency pricing, see what a GEO agency costs and our comparison of GEO and AEO agencies for ecommerce.
How we track AI visibility at Succession Media
We do not resell a dashboard. For clients we run the tracking ourselves, so it is set up for product brands from day one:
- Weekly AI Answer Lab. A fixed library of your category, problem and comparison prompts, asked in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity from a US location, scored on named, named first, cited sources and share of voice against your top rivals.
- Cited-source maps. Every URL the answers cite, ranked by frequency, turned into a target list of pages to win.
- Verified bot logs. AI crawler hits checked against the IP ranges OpenAI publishes, because most requests claiming to be AI bots in our own logs were scanners faking the user agent.
- Revenue reporting. Organic AI referrals split from paid ChatGPT ads and reported as sessions, orders and revenue. At one brand we work with, ChatGPT traffic converted at 4.99%.
The point is not the data. It is what ships after it: page answers, structured data, crawler fixes and off-site mentions, every week, tied to orders.
FAQ
What is the best GEO tool?
It depends on budget and team. Otterly.AI ($29 a month) is the cheapest serious start, Peec AI ($95 for 50 prompts) and Otterly Standard ($189 for 100 prompts) suit most brands tracking a real prompt set, Scrunch ($250) adds site audits and bot traffic, and Profound (custom) fits enterprise teams. Prices are from each vendor's pricing page on October 16, 2026.
Is there a free GEO tool?
Profound offers a 7-day free trial (50 prompts a day on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews), Scrunch a 7-day free trial and Otterly.AI a free trial. Free one-off checkers such as the Semrush AI search visibility checker give a snapshot. For Google's AI features, the Search Console Generative AI features report is free first-party data.
Profound vs Peec AI: which is better?
They serve different buyers. Peec AI publishes self-serve plans from $95 a month (50 prompts, 3 models, unlimited users). Profound's public pricing is a free 7-day trial and then custom enterprise plans with up to 9 answer engines and ChatGPT Shopping tracking. A Shopify brand without an enterprise budget will usually start with Peec or Otterly.
Peec AI vs Otterly.AI: which is cheaper?
Otterly.AI starts lower ($29 a month for 15 prompts) and Peec AI starts at $95 for 50 prompts. Per tracked prompt they are close: about $1.90 a month on both entry plans with real prompt volume, falling to $1.22 on Otterly Premium and $1.41 on Peec Advanced. Otterly includes 4 engines by default; Peec lets you choose 3 models.
Does Semrush track ChatGPT and AI Overviews?
Yes, through the AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month, with 25 tracked prompts on platforms like Google AI Mode and ChatGPT, brand performance analysis for one domain and AI search checks in Site Audit for up to 100 pages. It has no free trial, per Semrush's knowledge base.
How many prompts should a Shopify brand track?
Start with 30 to 50 for one hero product line: category prompts, problem prompts, comparison prompts against your top rivals and brand prompts. Grow to 100 or more once you are fixing pages and want to see which fixes moved. Fifteen prompts is enough to learn the tool, not to run a program.
Do I still need a GEO tool if I hire an agency?
Not separately, if the agency gives you the prompt sheet, the cited-source map and AI-referred revenue every month. Ask to see the raw prompt-level data, not only a score. If an agency only forwards a tool dashboard, you are paying twice for the same thermometer.
When to bring in Succession Media
Succession Media is a DTC growth agency for Shopify brands doing $20K+ a month, strongest in supplement, wellness and health categories. This guide's topic maps to our AI Search Optimization (AEO + GEO) work. It is worth a call if:
- You bought a GEO tool and the dashboard shows rivals named for your top prompts every week, but nothing on your site has changed.
- Nobody on your team owns AI search fixes: product page answers, structured data, outreach and tracking.
- You need AI-referred orders reported next to Meta and Google numbers, not a visibility score.
- You run a Shopify brand doing $20K+ a month and want tracking set up for product prompts, not your brand name.

How we researched this guide
We opened each vendor's own pricing page (and Semrush's knowledge base) on October 16, 2026 and recorded the monthly prices, prompt limits, engines and trials listed there; cost per prompt is our own division of those figures. Search demand figures are US Google monthly averages from a keyword data pull we ran the same day. We have no affiliate relationship with any tool listed. Last reviewed .
